Creation of an urban furniture : a delivery biker shelter.
The challenge
The street is a meeting place, where you pass through and share space. The purpose of this project is to propose a product that would be placed on the street and would respond to a specific problem.

Methodology :

1
Observation
Observe the street and find a problem to solve.

4
Prototyping
We did a lot of sketches and mock-ups, as well as real-size ergonomics testing.

2
Research
Once the topic was chosen, we did interviews to better understand our target.

5
Formalization
Creation of our product and layout of our visuals.

3
Brainstorming and proposals of several concepts responding to our problem.

6
Speaching
Oral presentation of 8 minutes on our project.
Bike delivery issues:
This profession is a more difficult shadow job than one can imagine. Delivery people are sometimes called to deliver at night, in rainy weather or in winter. They never take a break to be more productive, and when they wait for an order, they are standing in the street and have no place to put their bike.

"When I wait, I get closer to the Mcdo to get a fare before the other delivery boys."
"I often have pain from sitting on my bike. I sit on the sidewalk when I wait for an order."
"I’ve already waited more than an hour on the street before I had a fare."

How can we allow bike drivers to take shelter and wait between deliveries, while adapting to their need for constant mobility, in order to improve their working conditions?

Our project

Uber shed is a small shelter arranged in the streets with a high concentration of take-away type restaurants. It allows UberEat bike drivers to take a break of a few minutes between two fares or while waiting for a fare.

Uber shed is mainly made of steel. The roof and the seats are made of oak (class 3 wood resistant to moisture), to bring a warm feeling to the drivers. A light will illuminate the shelter at night.
The central bar is heated by an electric cable connected to resistors that heat an oil. The center pole has two USB sockets.
The shelter is designed to accommodate a low-speed bike in a smooth way and to be able to swing from your bike directly into the chair. It allows delivery men to return very fast to service.
The app

The app makes Ubershed exclusive to bike drivers. To turn on the heater, the user just has to turn on the bluetooth and connect to his UberEat profile. Thanks to the map, he knows where the free shelters are to anticipate his next break.
Pour se connecter à l'abris et activer le chauffage, le livreur doit activer l'abris grâce à son compte UberEat.
